The mission of the Yachats Academy of Arts & Sciences is to provide educational and entertainment opportunities for people on the central Oregon coast. Sponsored by Polly Plumb Productions, we encourage the residents of the village of Yachats, Oregon to work with Academy board members to organize those events that they judge to be most enjoyable.
Solstice Bonfire 2017
December 21, 2017, 4pm
The Yachats Academy of Arts and Sciences invites you to join us and the greater Yachats Community in celebrating the winter Solstice and the coming of the "New Light". This annual event has become quite popular and takes place on Thursday, December 21, 4:00 PM at the picnic shelter behind The Commons. People gather about 4pm, just as the sun sets on the Great Pacific Ocean. The bonfire will be lit shortly thereafter. If it is raining, the picnic shelter gives us cover.
Again this year, the Yachats Ladies Club will be providing "sweet treats" and there will be coffee and hot chocolate.
This is a free celebration event. Any donations will be shared with the nonprofit organizations that are participating.
